Meeting the Ministry
We are very glad that we got the opportunity to present our work and vision for a sustainable maritime future to Sandor Gaastra and his colleagues from the Ministerie van Economische Zaken en Klimaat. Our co-founder Gijsbert van Marrewijk explained how Flying Fish benefits from R&D subsidies to develop zero-emission ship technology, while at the same time the lack of taxes for marine fossil fuels makes it difficult to let this sustainable tech compete at the moment. We propose that while the prices of green hydrogen and batteries drop, fossil fuels are taxed according to their true environmental impact. That way, we can convert to a booming sustainable industry! Thanks to Buccaneer Delft for organizing the event.
